Probably one of the best known beaches on the island. It is a 1km stretch of golden sand sloping gently into the Aegian. behind it is the lovely shade of a pine forest which surrounds the lake of Strofilia, a protected area for wildlife. At one end of the beach is a small harbour and all along the beach are tavernas, water sports centres and kiosks for soft drinks and snacks. Bus stops for Koukounaries beach start at number 23, for the harbour end to number 26 which is the far end and the last stop on the bus route.
